It’s the pre-Christmas ratings chart so put down your lists and have a read
1 Strictly Come Dancing (Sat, BBC1)
The penultimate episode of the competition saw all five couples compete in two different dances however it was finally time up for the fun couple of Lisa and Robin as they lost out to Denise and James in the dance-off
2 Last Tango in Halifax (Wed, BBC1)
Undoubtedly one of the most successful dramas of the year, after Call the Midwife obviously, Last Tango goes out with two episodes including this finale in which Alan and Celia’s relationship was tested by her prejudices.
3 Merlin (Sat, BBC1)
The penultimate episode ever featured a large battle between knights and dark magic however it wasn’t quite the end as the show wraps up on Christmas Eve.
4 Have I Got News For You (Fri, BBC1)
The boost in ratings for the satirical quiz show must be due to the fact that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was in the hot seat and I found him witty and self-deprecating throughout.
5 [New] Snow Babies (Wed, BBC1)
This one-off nature documentary looked at animals born in some of the coldest places on Earth.
6 [New] Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Comedy Roadshow (Thurs, BBC1)
Stand-up from McIntyre and friends pulled in the Christmas crowds although the funny man isn’t given a spot on Christmas Day like he was last year.
7 [Re] Young Apprentice (Thurs, BBC1)
The business competition show re-enters the chart as the final showdown sees Maria and Patrick take on Lucy and Ashleigh who both try and flog sports gear to the experts as well as Rio Ferdinand.
8 Inside Claridges (Mon, BBC2)
Aside from the Bake-Off it appears as if this look behind the doors of one of the most famous hotels in the country has been the most successful BBC2 show of the year.
9 [Re] Take Me Out (Sat, ITV1)
A celebrity special, featuring Keith Lemon among others, pulls in the viewers as the dating show moves into The X-Factor’s old slot.
